The KYOTO ART BOOK FAIR (KABF) will take place in May 2027.
Since the NY Art Book Fair began in 2006, art book fairs have been held in cities around the world. Makers gather, lay out their books, and connect with visitors through them. The energy of these gatherings has sustained the art book as a form of expression for some two decades, and today the art book fair has established itself as a cultural event in its own right.
Kyoto is home to culture and craft passed down over a long span of time, and to diverse people and places involved in publishing and creative expression, each continuing its own work while nurturing a culture of its own. KABF will bring this environment, particular to Kyoto, together with the art book fair, exploring forms of encounter and exchange that can only emerge here.
With each edition, KABF aims to shape a character of its own from the time accumulated in Kyoto and the relationships among its people, and to become a book fair that could only exist in this place.
The call for exhibitors is scheduled to open in late October 2026.
